-------------------------LINCOLN is in Lincolnshire England. Although some parts are hilly it is a walkable city. Lincoln was formed by the Romans in 49 AD, today the Cathedral and Castle are great to visit. The Roman name was Lindum Colonia. A feature of the city is the Steep Hill , voted Britains Great street ,it connects Downhill to Uphill Lincoln. ---The Cathedral owns one of the four copies of the Magna Carta, signed in 1215 AD. This copy is on display in the Castle for a fee. In the Cathedral is a facsimile of Magna Carta near the Cloisters. The Cathedral was built between 11th and 12th century on a hilltop. It has three towers.----------Lincoln Castle dates from 1068 and was built by William the Conqueror. The castle grounds are free but an entrance fee is needed for castle and Victorian prison.and Magna Carta............A little bit of history. , Erlmine Street was a Roman road from London via Lincoln to York, my home city.
